N E W M O V I E O N T H E H O R I Z O N !
Hey ya’ll! Just writing to let you know I’m getting a new movie off the ground, temporarily titled “PURE.” This story has been on my heart for several years now, so I’m uber excited to finally get the ball rolling!
With all that’s been happening I’ve been wanting to start a newsletter to share how God’s been at work, and also keep everyone updated on upcoming casting calls and auditions, news, prayer requests, etc. Please subscribe to the newsletter if you’d like to receive occasional project updates in the future.
Watching how God calls us to partner with him and then provides for his work is one of my favorite things in life. Can’t wait to share a little more on how things have been coming together! As of this week, I’m about to complete the second draft of the script and submit to my Exec Producer for review.
Here’s a little more about the project…
I T ‘ S A B O U T S E X That’s right, the movie’s about sex. In a nutshell, “PURE” is a faith-based feature film about Christian young adults and their struggle to understand sexuality and how it fits in with their faith. PURE is designed to get singles talking about sex. And purity. And if it’s still important. And why.
The film will provide an avenue for churches to explore the all-important issue of sexual ethics with their young people—and do it in a way that creates an open and safe space for dialogue. Few things influence a person’s long term physical, emotional, and spiritual health and happiness as much as their sexual and relationship choices. The film, designed to be screened in churches and used in conjunction with a study guide and discussion questions, will give young adults the tools they need to make healthy relationship choices that will lead to healthy hearts, healthy marriages, healthy children, and healthy communities. And it will give parents and pastors a venue to broach those sensitive topics with their youth.

Enough people have expressed concern over my financial well being that I’ll go ahead and take a moment to address it. 🙂 As many of you know, I quit my full-time job and went back to freelancing, living on a small income in order to have time to pursue this project. It’s a risk, yes. But I believe living a life of financial security is not necessarily the Christian way. Jesus said seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you. For me, learning to take that seriously—to switch my allegiance over from cultural narratives about success, to truly believing and living the radical life Jesus modeled, trusting his provision for one’s daily bread—is at the heart of my Christian journey. In my experience, God often waits till we take a leap of faith before he shows his power and supernatural provision. Rarely does he make the path secure and risk-free when he calls us.
The book of Acts describes a time when the church had everything in common. As Believers we need to get over the idea that self-sufficiency is the holy grail of respectability, and high-paying jobs are the pinnacle of success. We need to strive for a time when we are so sold out for God’s work, that acclaim and money—even security and comfort—are not the number one priorities in our lives. And we’re willing to share what we have, because we’re just that committed to God’s work.

C U R R E N T N E E D S I finally did it. I dropped an important hard drive, the 5TB one that contained all of my packet materials for the project. It’s gonna cost a couple hundred dollars to extract the data off the broken drive, and $130 to replace the drive.
